Tranquil 2-bedroom top-floor flat in Abingdon-on-Thames. Ideal for writing retreat or as a base for Oxford.

  • Bathroom with shower and bath with sloping backrest.

  • Dedicated parking space.

  • Secure bike shed.

My clothes and personal items will be stored away in the attic. The bookcases can be emptied too if requested. The furniture will all stay by default but I could move some items into the attic if required, and I'm open to getting new items if needed.

Availability

1 December 2022 to 1 April 2023

I'd like to find somebody for as much of this period as possible, and a minimum of two months. There's flexibility to extend the stay into April/May if required.

Location

The flat is on the east edge of the historical town centre, in a quiet development with communal green spaces. Abbey Meadows park with views of the Thames is a four-minute walk away, and the old town square with its outdoor cafés is just another five minutes beyond that to the west.

Transport links to Oxford

The nearest bus stop is on Oxford Road, five minutes' walk away. There are frequent direct buses to Oxford from here, taking around 25 minutes.

The adventurous can cycle all the way to Oxford along the Hanson Way cycle route.

Alternatively, Radley train station is a 10-minute cycle away. The train to Oxford takes 8 minutes, and bikes are allowed on board.

RENT

£850 pcm plus bills

Council tax is £130 pcm. Energy was around £100 a month over the summer before the price rise. Willing to fix a rate of £1100 pcm including bills if meter readings show usage isn't much above £150 pcm. Otherwise happy to just go off meter readings so that you pay just for what you use.

Note that this is my home rather than an investment. I'd prefer to find somebody respectful who'll look after the place rather than to maximise rental income.
